Quantitative Method Reflective Journal
Statistics play a huge part in our everyday life. It is important to learn because they will definitely come up again and will give you a good idea of the big picture!
The mean is the average score. We find it by adding up all the students’ scores and dividing by the total number of students. I got my part-time job which being a kindergarten teacher during school holiday. There are 30 people in my math class. Just looking at everyone's score on the latest exam doesn't really tell me very much. However, if I look at the mean, I get a sense of how the class did on average. The bigger the mean, the level of students is higher. The smaller the mean, the level of students is lower.
Moreover, standard deviation is quite useful in our life also. Standard deviation is a measure of dispersion used in interpreting data sets. Standard deviation helps us to look at a set of data and make some assumptions. The larger the standard deviation, the more our data is spread out. The smaller the standard deviation, the less variation in our data set. For example, when we are counting money use can use it. When we are managing our money to find the percentage of what we would spend. We also can use them to find the percentage of anything we are trying to figure out.
Lastly, I feel happy that our quantitative method group assignment project did well and was submitted to the division office before the due date. We divided our work separately because it saved our time and done it efficiently. When we faced difficult problems that we cannot solve, we discussed together and asked tutor. I gain knowledge on statistics during the time doing assignment with them.
