Our Fresh Mart from tutorial section 16 is held on the 30th of May 2014. Before embarking the Fresh Mart project, we expected to get a break-even profit. Developing a friendship with classmates was my second expectation. Moreover, I decided to improve my sales skill. All of my expectations were fulfilled through the project. We get a profit around $800 although that is a bit lower than other tutorial group but we met our aim. After the project, we took a group photo. We furthered mutual understanding while we were selling fruits and vegetables. As a member of mobile team, I have learned how to promote my products to customers and persuade them to buy. I have learned not to be discouraged when getting a rejection from customers. Also, I enhanced my promotion skills.
Before we started the project, one of the members who supposed to deliver the fruits was jammed in the traffic light. In order to solve this issue, I accidentally was appointed to drive a car and delivered the fruits from leader’s house to Student life Centre in Taylor’s University. After we finished our Fresh Mart project, we apparently found out one carton of bananas and one box of grapes were left in a member’s car. We could not sell out those fruits because it was too late when was around 6pm. Due to the large quantity of grapes, we could not put it in the refrigerator and it would easily become rotten. So we could not keep the fruits until the next day. After we discussed, we made a decision which donated all the fruits to scholars’ party. So we did not waste the fruits. Through this situation, I have developed thinking and problem solving skill. There are lots of skills in the Taylor’s Graduate Capabilities. Communication skill is one of the skills which l have enhanced during the project. Especially talking to a stranger. I have learned how to open a conversation kindly with others and not be shy all the time.
In my opinion, I believe that the experience I gained in this project will be useful to me in the future. Those experiences like the skills I have mentioned above cannot learn from the textbook. “Experience is the best teacher” is an old cliché but I totally agree with that. I believe that the best way to learn about knowledge is by their experiences, although some people think that learning the best by listening to our elders.
